In essence, they see themselves as a new type of political citizen.However, when it comes to social movements research, there is a problem in which students view this new idea of activist groups. This is somewhat ironic considering the fact that these same students will automatically classify any economic or political event into one of the four social movements categories. They see this as perfectly logical.No matter how bad the economic recession is, these students are sure that it can be fixed. And that is why social movements research is so important. It will help create the education gap that will help us all understand the movements that exist and how they have caused the economic and political problems we have today.Whether you agree with these student sentiments or not, this is one of the reasons why social movements research is so important. It helps us understand how we can better identify the causes of the economic and political problems. It also h elps educate us in how we can best move forward to create a better society.
